Making a Documentary

Steven SanderDocumentary editor and director, Steven Sander, will take us through the process of working with companies such as Google and Channel 4.

His work with new technology and innovation with Premiere Pro led Steven to become the first editor to edit a movie in the ‘Cloud’.

He is one of the most sought after creative technicians in the business and we are on ‘cloud-9’ that he has taken time out of his busy schedule to come to Bedford and show film makers of the future the tools of the trade that will be common place for very soon.

About Steven:

Steven is an award winning commercials director, documentary film maker and feature film editor.

He is based in London but travels extensively to film projects in Europe, South Africa, Australia and the USA.  As a director he is adept at documentary style shooting with a wry sense of humour.  The emotive force and sensitivity of his documentary films have won praise from critics and he is currently developing several feature ideas.

In 2008, after 10 years experience as a commercials director, Steven edited the feature film “New Town Killers” starring Dougray Scott, while his commercial “Torture By Any Other Name”, featuring Emma Thompson, won a Silver  European Premier Creative Advertising Award (EPICA) and was featured in the APA 08 Collection for the best UK ads of the year.

New Town Killers was released in cinema’s across Europe and garnered three Scottish BAFTA Award nominations.  Steven has since edited two more features which have played at film festivals around the world.

In 2010 Steven filmed, edited and directed a feature documentary following Australian soccer superstar Tim Cahill in the lead up to the Football World Cup Finals in South Africa. The film premiered on prime time Australian television (Seven Network) and was released by Universal Pictures on DVD.

Steven directed the debut episode of MLS Insider for America’s NBC network and the show was recently nominated for an Emmy Award.
