Bedford Film Festival, in partnership with Sprint Convergence Ltd, is delighted that Rogan’s Books, the only bookshop in Bedford dedicated to books for younger readers, is a Bedford Film Festival Fringe venue for 2016.
Bookshop owner, Rachael, has been a firm friend and supporter of the town’s film festival since our first event. Now her book shop becomes a perfect venue for a film based on one of the most popular children’s books of recent times.
How to train Your Dragon by Cressida Cowell has been chosen by fans of Rogan’s Books and fits perfectly as Cressida herself recently visited the shop to meet her many fans, young and old, and sign their books.
As a film …‘How to Train Your Dragon’ has taken Cressida’s creation to new heights. and created a new franchise that is adored the world over. The first film in the series has taken almost $500 million at the box office alone.
It follows a hapless young Viking who aspires to hunt dragons becomes the unlikely friend of a young dragon himself, and learns there may be more to the creatures than he assumed. The story teaches us that following a different path is ok, and that kindness will be returned. It’s about friendship and understanding that a book should never be judged by its cover. A perfect film for Bedford Film Festival’s favourite bookshop.
We whole-heartedly recommend this film. Yes, it’s possible that you and your children have already seen it, but to watch it, even if it’s again, surrounded by children’s books in a place that is fast becoming many children’s favourite place to go adds a perfect touch to the beauty of cinema.
