Decades after an ill-fated robbery in which a security guard is murdered, a former member (Susan Sarandon) of the Anti- Vietnam War militant group behind the crime turns herself in. While covering the story, reporter Ben Shepard (Shia LaBeouf) discovers that recently widowed lawyer Jim Grant (Robert Redford) was also a member of the same group. Grant slips by the FBI agents tracking him and goes on the run, hoping to track down his former lover, Mimi (Julie Christie). The Company You Keep is tense and intelligent political thriller that takes the idealism of 1960s youth and assesses how it all turned out, as one man tries to escape his radical past.
