Our opening film for 2015, based on Bill Bryson’s international bestseller…
A Walk in the Woods
Reception: 18:30 - with a DJ set by Richard Compton
Film: 20:00
Join us for a special reception to open Bedford Film Festival 2015. We’ll have exclusive use of The Quarry at St Luke’s for our main screening weekend and our opening night will begin with a drinks reception in the bar and, weather permitting, the courtyard garden.
Our festival will then be opened by Ronan Willson, Managing Director of Millennium Studios, who are based at Cardington and Thurleigh. Millennium Studios is a film studio facility that brings film productions of all levels to our local area.
Ronan Willson moved Millennium Studios from Elstree to Thurleigh in 2009 and it was open for business in 2010 and so this year they celebrate their 5th year anniversary. In June 2014 Ronan was presented the opportunity of acquiring the iconic Cardington hangar, Shed 2, which has been the home to many major Hollywood blockbuster and major movie productions. Ronan already had a great insight into the site as ELP had worked on a number of these movie productions such as Batman Dark Knight, Batman returns, Fred Clause, Inception and United 93 to name a few.
Since acquiring Cardington Shed 2 one of the largest and most impressive spaces in Europe, they have had back to back solid bookings from the major Film Production Studios. The new Pan movie will be released in October and was one of the recent films to work at Cardington.
After some words from Ronan, the film will commence.
After spending two decades in England, Bill Bryson returns to the U.S., where he decides the best way to connect with his homeland is to hike the Appalachian Trail with one of his oldest friends.
