Dump it on Parliament Revisited – The Final Cut!

Dump it on Parliament
Step back in time to the post-punk scene of the mid 1980’s. Think Siouxsie Sioux, a DIY ethic, scratch video, protest, Thatcher.
Dump It On Parliament Revisited – The Final Cut was created by local film-maker Andy Willsher and artists DASHNDEM and Roshi Nasehi, to explore the history of the original protest tape, Dump It On Parliament, and the creation of a new compilation made with local post-punk bands and musicians as a record and celebration of the raw energy of Bedfordshire 1980’s post-punk scene re-imagined for today. Meshing the past and present, using interviews and original footage, and referencing the cut-up film making techniques that emerged in the 1980’s. It looks at the background to the original tape – the political climate, the protest group B.A.N.D. and the post-punk music and film coming out of the 33 Arts Club. Then alongside, follows the production of the 2015 art commission.

Following the film screening we will be holding an informal Q&A about the making of the film, focusing on the local history of the 1980’s protest group Bedfordshire Against Nuclear Dumping (B.A.N.D), the spirit of the time and how todays climate resonates with that era.
